I just had a question. I was getting into the shower tonight and was doing a self mammogram. First let me start off by saying that I'm 21 years old, and when I was 18 I had a breast reduction so I know I have some fatty/muscle tissue that is not distributed evenly. I felt a hard "mass" it's probably about the diameter of a quarter and it doesn't really feel "round," it feels almost flat. I don't really feel much pain when I push on it. I called my mom who's a nurse, and she naturally told me to get it checked out, and she also told me that I have a 24 year old cousin who just had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer. Should I be worried?

Yes due to the fact that your cousin had a double mastectomy. But then it could be part of that fatty muscle. However please do get it it checked out. It could be something but then it could be nothing at all. All we can do is pray that it's nothing. Remember where one prays there is power, but where two or more pray the power is stronger. Lots of luck. God Bless You.

No not necessarily I'm 14 and was doing a self check and found a lump. I went to the breast center and was told it was probably a cyst well they did a ultrasound and it was a tumor that grows really fast due to my bodies hormones. She said it can get the size of your fist so she operated last week it doesn't hurt at all. I wont get the results of weather its cancerous or not till next week but my symptoms are the same as yours. GO TO THE DOCTOR BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY. Good luck

Yes because if she's 24 that probably means you have an family history of getting breast cancer early. You should get it checked out.
