I would like to become an actress in the movies. I am 10 and will be 11 in April 2007. I have the skill and talent. In grade 2 I recieved a 'best actress' award in class. I think I can. I memorize really good. In grade 2 I memorized a script that was at least 5 paragraphes long that I hear nobody in the grade at my school could memorize that fast.

PLEASE HELP THIS TALENTED FUTURE ACTRESS!THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Hi there! It's not too likely that you'll become an actress in movies anytime very soon, of course. You should look for local youth acting organizations, even though they can be costly. If your family isn't quite fortunate enough for you to participate in these (like mine), just keep doing well when your school has acting opportunites for you. Trust me, if you keep participating in school musicals/plays (especially in middle school and high school) you will get noticed. Don't give up on your dreams!

I recommend building a resume, stage presence and contacts by performing with community theaters.

Community theater literally draws from the community at large, and its open to the public. They rarely pay cash.

Most major newspapers have audition notices that are published on the same day of the week. You could find out when they are by calling your local newspaper or visit their website. Harrison Ford got his start in film by being noticed in a Broadway show. I realize that community theater isn't Broadway, but it does build experience, and can lead to other possibilities.

Once you've built a resume, you could go for a talent agent. Most cities with more than 500,000 people have around three. Never pay a talent agent to represent you. If they ask for cash its best to dash.

Finally, many Universities offer degrees in theater,. and several large schools offer nothing but acting courses, such as the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, which is where many big names actors have gone to school.

I think your best bet would be to try local theater to gain more experience and it will give you a feel of the business on a smaller scale. You've got to start somewhere. I would be wary about getting an agent because there are a lot of scam artists out there, but with research you can find one. Although it might be costly. Definitely look at your local theater and local productions. Best of luck and don't ever give up on your dreams.

You need to get involved with a local community theatre group, a children's acting company, or a good acting class for kids in your area.
