There are several pockets of black communities. Segregation is severe. Blacks are horribly discriminated against: socially, housing, and employment. Most of them are unable to find even the most menial of work therefore are poverty-stricken. Poverty brings its own special kind of living which brings more hailstones of opprobation. The government ignores their pleas for assistance and the police treat their dogs better than they do the blacks. The systemic racism is entrenched and although there have been recent marches and newpaper articles, they still are stuck on the lowest rung of the social ladder.

Latinos on the entire continent tend to be more mixed. Although there were indeed slaves in the history of Latin America, emancipation was gradual and occurring a lot earlier than in the United States. Most slaves had been freed by the beginning of the XVIIIth century. Also, few Latin American countries practiced the kind o active segregation that still officially existed in the United States until relatively recently.
As a result, Latin Americans are more mixed and homogeneous - most people having ancestors among Native Indians, Spanish settlers and black slaves.

Mexico brought slaves from Africa and sold them to...whom? when was this, sure is news to me but would love to know more about this since I never heard of such a thing.

The Mexicans where smarter then us Americans..., the Mexicans used up all the Honor they had 100 Years ago (which wasn't much back then either) and hung every one of them from the Highest Tree they could find!

did they really? i didn't know that. are you sure they were black not all slaves were black you know that right. but if they did maybe they built rafts and went to the islands (like cuba, jamacia, ect.)
