Captain Kangaroo was an alcoholic. And I always had a creepy feeling about Mr. Rogers -- like he was sending a message to the little kids when he was putting on his sweater: "I'm putting on my sweater -- you all know what THAT means....ooooh......Mr. Rogers is coming to get you...."
Always creeped me out and made me cry. My mother never understood why I didn't want to watch it.
