So much depends on where you carry your weight and what you feel comfortable with.
Wrap dresses are flattering on almost everyone and a great choice.
If you carry your weight on the bottom, go w/ an A-line bottom to the skirt/dress.
If you are heavy on top, a V-neck is great. It draws everyones eyes up to your face.
Take your best features and play them up.
Many people are heavy on top and bottom, but have a small waist --- if that's you, show it off by wearing something that is fitted at the waist and then pulls away from the body below the waist. A big plus to having some extra weight, is often people have great cleavage. Don't go over-the-top and show the girls off to the whole world, but definitely go w/ the v-neck. If your weight is in the tummy, then show off your skinnier legs by wearing a high waisted pencil shirt.
If you can stand to dance the night away in heels - go for it. The same amount of weight spread out over an extra couple of inches of height has always helped me :-)
Most importantly - don't feel that you have to wear something that you don't like. Don't be scared of color. So many people will tell you to wear black --- maybe a dark red or bright blue will help show off your eyes, hence, drawing attention to an area you may be more comfortable with.
Have fun and congratulations on your graduation!

If you are on the heavier side here is a reccomendation for your graduation dress: Try something very simple, no ruffles or busy pattern. Try a two piece in a nice material where the top covers the tummy and matching shoes. If you are top-heavy try a v-neckline with simple jewelry. Also play up your beautiful eyes and smile. If you wear something sleeveless carry a soft wrap to put loosely around heavier arms. Make sure everything fits well and is not too tight. You will be stunning!!!!

Mmk, if you're fat, no dress will make you look good. You simply need to LOSE WEIGHT. It's actually not that hard. Try playing Dance Dance Revolution for PS2 or something like that. That takes off a few pounds. Avoid fast food. I KNOW fat people are addicted to wendys and stuff like that. Eat nonfat yogurt in the morning, try nonfat milk, and make sure to get protein in as well, but not from fatty meats. Just lose weight and then you will look good. Its the fat that makes you look fat.

don't be so self conscious about your body type!
for bigger figures, find a cute dress that has a v cut neck and something in the middle to minimize that part. such as a large fashionable belt. silk dresses are nicer (stay away from poofiness and tulle material!)

First of all, do NOT be so hard on yourself. you are not fat, you are curvy or thick or a little heavy, but don't down yourself like that.
Second, i think you should wear a long denim skirt with black boots, a nice dressy shirt, and accessorize! check out ashley stewart.com to get ideas.

Wear a dress with princess seams. They flatter any figure!
Go to Simplicity.com and pattern search for design 5207.
Super Cute! It even comes with a cover-up.
