I have two dogs and they both have stockings by the fireplace, filled with toys and puppy treats. Animals may not be human, but they are family!

When I was younger, I gave gifts to my dog. If someone doesn't like it, oh well. She's just as deserving of a gift as anyone else.
Also, pre-Christmas most of the gifts I sold where I work were for pets and I didn't find that odd.

Giving your dog a Christmas gift is a great idea and many ppl do this! Maybe next year you can wait til after Christmas and get things on sale and your doggie won't know the difference. haha
Another fun Christmas activity is to sing Christmas carols and your dog might start howling.

Nothing wrong with that, they are part of your family too. I have 2 dogs and do the same thing. One of my dogs birthday is Dec. 27th but since it was soooo close to Christmas and am pretty much broke from it, I didn't get her a bday present. It's not weird at all. I am sure a lot of people out there do the same thing.

A domesticated animal can be excepted as part of a family unit or not. In my experience dogs seem to be more well rounded and intelligent when they are excepted and treated likewise.I also know that under the same conditions people with pets tend to live longer and happier lives than those without.Don't mind the laughter just keep the spirit.

I think it's good to give your dog a christmas gift. you give your friends presents why not your dog? Your dog is special to you so I'll probably say it's good.

I do not know what kind of dog you have but I have mini schnauzers and if everybody is getting gifts and they were not they would feel rejected. German shepards not so much. Now if you got the pup a watch well then yes you are wierd.

My guess is that they just aren't used to that kind of thing, maybe never had pets? You get around long time pet owners and it's normal for them! I always give my cat something special at Christmas and it seems like others I know with pets do the same thing.
Be yourself - you're doing really good!
