I mean, seriously, I read comics, but I not into Anime or Manga. Why do I have to wade through all that crap.

I have to agree with you. I know that Anime and Manga, etc. have been a part of Animation during the last few years, but I find it frustrating and annoying to slush through all the "Naruto" and "Pokemon" questions. I want to read and talk about AMERICAN & ENGLISH Comics and Animation. I know-it's from another country, and it's popular in Japan, but I have yet to see it gain as much popularity here in the U.S. I DO like some of the Anime such as Ghost in The Shell and Akira, but I don't want to constantly talk about it. The current Anime is friggin' crap, weird, childish, and annoying. Yes, I am an old Nerd, but, blast it, let me read about Spidey, Batman, X-Men, Fantastic Four and other comic book questions. I can deal with the cartoon stuff, but the Anime and Manga GARBAGE is getting out of control. The last few weeks, I have RARELY seen any comic book questions! Yes, I am ranting, but I agree. Also, American comics are NOT "Western" versions of Manga!! American comics have been around for quite some time and did not copy anything from Japan. Japan copied US!!!!

Some that answered are indeed right. the topic does say comics & animation. which would include anime and manga. But due to the anime questions i see with people answering it in a non anime fashion (example: which is your fave anime and someone answers "Spongbob"). I pretty much like to see a catergory thats separates anime and manga from the regular american topic of comics and cartoons. This was. it can separate the rif rafs from the true blue anime nerds.

Anime and Manga are based on Japanese Comics. And since they are Comics they belong in this category.
We all have to wade through subjects in every category that most of us have no interest in to get to what we love and like.
Maybe one day Anime and Manga will have their own sub category but till then they are here.

I agree. Anime and Manga are genres unto themselves. I think comics should be separated even further. Manga is Japanese comics, and Manwha is Korean comics. I like both comics and anime so I'm good on all fronts.

Eh. I like anime and manga. But you do know that manga is like comic strips for Japanese people?
manga means comic.
anime is actually a shortened version of animation.
So there's really nothing to it, it's just reading a different country's comix. That may be part of the reason why..........

I'm guessing the mangas fall into the catergory.

Because anime is very popular today, and it is pretty much a sub-category of comics and animation.

cause they are illustrated art or the sorts, comics are just the western idea of manga. SAME thing.
