It depends why you find New Year depressing. You can go out and get lashed, but some people might say what a waste of money, when you could go out virtually any other night of the year for half the price. You could stay up all night and have a house party with the neighbourhood and go first footing. However some don't know (or care to know!) their neighbourhood that well and 'first footing' might be construed as breaking the peace and lead to a night in the cells!
Personally I will be doing a compromise of that, where I have a gathering of a few friends at home. We'll see the new year in together safe in the knowledge we know each other well enough to let the party go on as long as we want it to!
However you choose to spend it, have a good one and a safe one!

Sure do.............go to any events hosted by your local city that usually goes with the title first night. It is usually with the ground rules of no drinking acholic drinks.....and has music, dancers, and fun events that you can take the whole family to. In Edmonton/Alberta Canada they also have ice scuptures, and a threatre play that begins as the magical hour gets close and then just after 12 midnight they set off some fireworks. The tickets are pretty cheap and your in for an interesting creative evening.

I would invite over a few close friends and have a fun, relaxing night complete with snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike).
A good way to have fun is to play games such as Cranium, trivial pursuit, Scene It?, or Battle of the Sexes (I bought all these from Target.) Comedy DVD's are a good way to enjoy a fun night. If you live in an area which allows such, fireworks are awesome.

Hope I could help! Just remember to keep it low key, and just have fun.

Go to bed early and get up early the next day for a nice long walk and think about all those people with their terrible hang overs.

Go to a big party with a lot of people and friends with a date to kiss at midnight, lots of confetti and alcohol. Have fun!

Just don't think "2007. A year closer to the Apocalypse. Fabulous."... Because that is one thing that will just ruin 2007 for you.
