Im 22 and sometimes i wont go to bed until around 7-8am. Sometimes i have not gone to bed until around 9am which tends to happen if i have been out drinking. I dont mind missing most of the day in bed if i have nothing planned but people tell me that im just wasting the day.

Don't listen to these baloney-heads; I love staying up 'til 7 a.m. I'm a night owl and feel more peaceful and thoughtful and energized at night, when I know all the annoying people of the world are asleep. (And I'm a college student. Ha. Night is major paper-writing time.) I sleep better when it's light out. I guess it's a result of my old daytime napping habits, past graveyard-shift jobs, and the fact that I usually don't have to wake up for class 'til noon.

Last May, I jumped in a freezing-cold lake with some friends at 6 a.m. after a night of drinking, then watched the sun come up from a perch on a park swing, then slept the whole frickin' day. Best time ever.

Several people are "night owls". This is totally normal AND NECESSARY! As long as you are getting enough sleep, who cares what other people think. It's your life, not theirs. You need to do what feels right for you and let other people worry about their own lives. Thank goodness there are people in this world who prefer these hours because we NEED people who are able to stay up when others are asleep to do the jobs that NEED to be done at night. (the person who said there is nothing productive to do at night - is an idiot.) You may want to consider getting a job during the "grave yard" shift since this seems to be comfortable for you. We need people like you. Besides, for every person working at night, this is better for relieving rush hour traffic where all the "normal" people are sitting for hours every day - wasting their day!!

You are wasting your life away! There's nothing for you to do during the hours you're up. It is a sign of laziness - that you waste the important hours of the day sleeping while playing during the hours you should be asleep. It shows a lack of direction in your life. It shows a lack of self discipline. It shows the lack of adult supervision leading you up to now. This is not normal even for a second shifter. It shows that you are more comfortable existing alone ( a recluse) instead of being sociable or interacting with other (alive) people. Do real work and when bedtime comes, you'll be ready to rest -- and you can feel pleased with yourself for accomplishing something worthwhile.

i'm 32 and that i desire staying up late, as a count of fact between the failings i love to do is choose for late nighttime drives (no longer something unlawful), there is in simple terms one thing concerning the nighttime air/sky that attracts to me, my city is so lots greater quiet and lots much less busy...it incredibly is in simple terms non violent to me.

You're young . . . and you can get away with this for now. Later on though, it'll be tough to be a night owl. If you stay like this as you get older, I might suggest that you find a 3rd shift job.

Some people 'live' at night, others during the day. Just make sure you are getting enough rest.

Why should you care what people tell you? Do YOU feel like you're wasting the day?

As long as you're functioning well, fulfilling your responsibilities, and feel healthy, when you sleep is your business.

i think the effects may be more long-term than anything, your body is programmed to sleep at certain times... don't you have a job to go to? it will be hard to get your body clock back on track when you do decide to start sleeping at "normal times"... i suppose aslong as you are eating properly and getting quality sleep it wont harm you... i know people who only do night shift. and they are fine.

If it doesn´t mess up the following days or your responsibilities for the rest of your week, then who cares whether it´s normal for other people or not? it seems to be normal for you, so enjoy!

each person has their own biological clock. some people are night people and others arent. as long as your actions dont cause serious problems in your life with work, friends, family, I wouldnt worry about it.
