I'm going to turn sixteen on December 30th and I'm looking to get a job. How do I start? Where should I look for one? By the way, I live in Salinas,California. Where can I find a job here?

Ask yourself what you might like to do...AND not like to do..
No sense in getting a job you can't stand and quiting or getting fired over...

For entry level min wage jobs like grocery , fast food and retail stores, just go in and ask for a job application . Just pound the pavement (walk in) and apply, for office help check local job listings and unemployment office.

Be clean, well groomed, and well spoken...first impressions count!!! Look around at the employees in the store (the employees are the customers impression of the business)

Be prepared when you apply - have a photo ID , know your SSN and have the contact info (phone number and addresses) of some references available (people who know you and can vouch for you) Ask people if you can use them as a reference BEFORE you list them as a reference. Its better to have an unrelated reference like a teacher, neighbor, family friend.

Think about the hours you are available for work
