I have avi file (a movie) that doesn't play smoothly, any suggestions??

I am using classic community codec pack.
It stops like after 2 secs, plays 2 secs and again stops 2 secs.
In the properties, it says it is MPEG4 video codec.

yes..download from the internet, do some searching for...Divx player. It plays wonderfully, that's what my bf did for me. good luck

download DIVx player its free and it plays or listens ANYTHING
