The pill my OBY/GYN put me on is called Tri-Cyclen. It doesn't stop the period but you get them every 26 days and they only last for 3 days. If you start them on a sunday you get your period on a friday done by monday morning. They help prevent pimples, bloat, fatigue and the mood swings. Also cutting salt out of your diet a week before your period also helps with the bloat and fatigue. I have been on them for 3 years and I have never been better.

To the extent of my knowledge the effects that birth control has on a person is the result of the reaction between the pills and your body (chemically). However, in the average person, birth control does not have this ability to prevent anxiety, mood swings, and PMS symptoms. In fact doctor's require that women stop using birth control for an estimated week - during that week (again from my understanding) a woman will have her period - it will not be a seven day period, but more like

I was on birth control pills for many years. My experience has been that it helps with cramps and having a short period, but I found that my moods are worse when I am on them. I seem to be depressed and short tempered. Everyone is different though. What worked for me when I was off the pills was calcium supplements. I saw it on the news, so I gave it a try. Good luck to you.

I know that I was on the birth control pill for 6 years and just recently was made to go off of them. I have bad migraine headaches and I was getting them way more often while on the pill. My doctor suggested going off of them, because she said they were contributing to my headaches. My migraines have lightened up considerably along with my awful mood swings since stopping the birth control pill.

Also, my doctor said that she wanted me to have AT LEAST 4 periods a year, not to EVER take the pills nonstop and NOT have my period, that it is NOT healthy, that you NEED to have a period at least every 4 months.

Yes taking birth control pills will balance out the hormonal imbalances. But BC pills on a long term have a lot of side effects, like if taken for more than 3 years they lower your libido and affect your bones when you get off these BC pills just to name a few... but you may try them for sometime till your body begins producing normal hormone levels in your body. But mostly BC pills provide symptomatic relief. You are better only when u r on pills! and back to the same place when u stop taking them!!

I will let you know right now that i was on the losest dowsage you could take of birthcontrol and it made my anxiety and mood swings so bad i had to stop taking it. I was a rollercoaster of emotions and it made my quality of life poor because i was happy one minute and sad the next. my mother had the same problem when she used to take the pill. its not a good option. the only upside to the pill is light peirods and you always know when you'll get it. i would recommend that you exercise yeah i know that sounds weird since you feel tired but it works for me. try st. johns wort(can't take that if you on the pill it will make it not work). talk to you docotor about how you feel.

Whenever I was on BC pills I was always a biotch. Mood swings, anxiety, fatigues, ect....its the hormones. Ask your Dr about a BC pill that has a lower hormone count and see if that helps. For me, nothing helped so I went off of them.

It definitely helps with pms symptoms, try them! I tried being on it continuously, without a break and still had some spotting. It helps with the pms even if you take it as recommended (3 weeks-1 week off). I hope it changes your life as it did mine.
