I would never sign nor ignore divorce papers without the advice of an attorney. Let me tell you something (I am going thru divorce right now), I am shocked and abhorred about how my husband has tried to sneakily get every penny we have. What's more, he told me one thing, and then went and got a bulldog for an attorney and is now going after everything. Contact an attorney, show them the papers, and be sure that a financial agreement is attached to the divorce before agreeing....as well as a custody agreement.

yes even if you agree you need to respond and it needs to be registered, also you need a acceptance paper, ( usually downloaded or comes with the papers she served you, ) needs to
be notarized,

make sure all information on the papers are correct,, make a copy and date it, that way if she changed it you can show the court what was agreed upon,

ALSO I RECOMMEND<, writing and having both parties sign, a VISITATION schedule with a statement saying this will be done yearly, STATE ALL HOLIDAYS YOU WANT THEM<< HAlf days Xmas eve, new years day,, FATHERS DAY,, your BDAY,, kids BDAY,, anything you can think of that will be argued when the day comes, ( She will say,, Oh let Jimmy stay,, my new husband got jimmy a horsey to ride and it is your day,, dont ruin jimmys special day,, and all that horse crap )

Most states have a waiting period, If you dont sign the papers with 30 days or so, they are considered signed. Of course the laws vary from state to state. I would consult a divorce attorney, let your lawyer and your spouses handle things.

I learned the hard way, but luckily, he wasn't that interested in getting all the stuff........yes, you get like 21 days to respond, or they can call it default and in MI, the person who served has the right to take everything if they so desire!!
