You may want to look at this page:

For a tomboy, you would likely look at overall size, pants will be basically the same at the waist, but you will want to consider roominess, relaxed fit over athletic fit.

For mens shirts, consider the bust size to the chest size and likely 'Big' over 'Tall', tall being over 6'3

Always consider going a size 'up' over a size 'down' and allow for shinkage (which on 100% cotton that is not 'pre-washed', can be up to 3-6% depending on the manufacturer).

In general, go down one 'mens' size to fit a woman, i.e. woman wears a ladies xl, then go to a men's large.

Hope that helps. I'm in wholesale, but not the site I listed as a reference - just to keep it objective.

That is a really tough question. It is tough to compare sizes even between men’s garments from different manufactures. Typically the best thing is to actually try the garment on. Short of that, if you know the person’s measurements then you can look on a sizing chart to make a good guess. Each and every garment will have different dimensions – for pants there is waist, inseam, hip, knee, and bottom. Men’s pants are typically measured on the waist, women’s are typically measured at the hips.

My best suggestion is to make sure you can return the items in case they do not fit.

mens clothing is done by actual measurements. a 38 waist is the actual measurement of your waist. i am a size 12/14 and wear a 33 at j crew.

woman's sizes usually make absolutely no sense. they are arbitrary numbers dreamed up ages ago. mens are so much easier. a size 38 waist is a 38 no matter what brand and what store you are in.

use a tape degree and degree your self. the final time all and assorted measured me in a shop became procuring a sparkling bra some weeks in the past. the female who measured me became very candy and insisted on making beneficial i had precisely the main remarkable length. i don't be attentive to if she knew i became trans or no longer. basically that i became a huge female (46d) who had lost a brilliant form of weight. your tale would not ring authentic. in case you have been somewhat transgender, you're able to already be attentive to what length you have been.
