I think that if your going to do it than you should go ahead while she's small because it only hurts for a minute. They can do both ears at the same time so it is not quite as bad.

At this point in time you'll be the one choosing everything for your daughter anyway. You will decide if her hair is short or long, what style clothes and so on, at least until she starts talking and having her own opinions. There's nothing wrong with piercing her ears as a baby. It isn't anymore pain than getting her shots and everything. You're right, she probably will want them done one day herself, and if not , all she has to do is not wear any earrings.

When my niece was born my sister was debating whether or not do get her daughters ears pierced. But like you said, she would get it done anyway and it makes little girls look sooo cute :D It's suppose to hurt the baby for like a second but my neice didnt even cry. Babies dont even pay attention to it afterwards. Make sure you take care of the ears though. That would be more pain for her to go through that then actually getting them pierced.

Of course, this will be totally up to you, but I would wait until she is at least a few years old. I waited until my daughter was almost 3 before piercing her ears and although she no longer has them at age 6, I'm thankful I waited because her body rejected them - the old "foreign object" is what her Doctor said. Her body rejected her earrings and her earlobes began to form cysts. After taking them out, her Doctor had to cauterize her lobes where the piercing was. He said it is not common, but not uncommon. I know of one person that has had the same issue and she has to where pure ivory studs and she says it is too expensive. Thankfully my daughter has no scars on her lobes but I won't put her back through that. Her Doctor said that most likely her body will never accept earrings.

I did it to my daughter when she was 3 months. I'm now noticing that her piercing is no longer symmetrical with the other ear and no longer centered (forgot the earlobe would grow awkwardly). Said something to my husband about doing my son's as well, until I noticed this and decided against it! Neither will any of my future daughters. I'm even thinking about removing my daughter's now, so that they can close and when she wants, can have them done again! Plus it does hurt the baby and you have to keep them clean and hope she won't tug at them and so on!

Don't do it there is a risk of infection and even more pain that comes with that. I am 29 years old and had mine done when I was a baby, they are crooked and I had it done so long ago that I stopped wearing earrings about 10 years ago and they are still opened. I wished I was given the choice.

I think it looks SO SO cute on a baby girl!
I have heard the younger the better (right at 3 months) as far as pain........
My ears closed up at age 8 and when I got them repierced it hurt like HELL!!!!!! I still remember..But I do not remember the infant piercing of course! DO it!!!

my oldest daughter is 4 and has short hair and is always being mistaken for a boy, especailly if she has a hat on or is wearing clothes that are not "girly"...her dad and I discussed piercing her ears..but we decided that she can get her ears pierced when she is old enuf to take care of them... I definalty do not want to have to deal with an infection in her ears...and my youngest daughter (4.5 months) seems to be going in the same direction with hair growth ( as in it is not growing..lol) but again until she is old enuf to take care of them herself we are not piercing her ears...that is my view on it...if ur daughter wants her ears pierced..she will let u know when she is ready...until then...enjoy her "au natural" because before long she may have piecings where u dont want them...lol

A newborn has enough to deal with without her ears being pierced. Let her make the decision when she's old enough to choose. At least the holes can grow closed, so no tattoos until she's 18. God Bless you and your wonderful family.

My mother had my ears pierced when I was 2 months old. I'm glad she did it while I was young because I don't remember going through the pain. She couldn't bear watching "her baby" be in pain, though, so my aunt actually held me.
