I didn't beat her.... she was screaming at me while I was driving and started hitting me...

I personally think if a female is going to hit a man she should expect to be hit in return, I mean if she hit another female there will be a fight and same if a man hits another man, so, if she hit first then I think a person has every right to hit back. Although, You should have been the bigger person and not hit her. I can see your frustration but, it sounds to me like you both need some anger management.

Yes and no. If it was an argument and something you would never do again, I'd say that labeling you as a wife beater is harsh. On the other hand, you did hit her. Laws in most states will put you in jail for that. I've known of many, many cases where the wife is doing the hitting and being totally abusive and when the husband called the police they arrested HIM. So be careful. Better to love her and be patient than in jail labeled as a wife beater.

Ok, everyone on here is basically an angry woman speaking out for "womens rights". And yes, everyone knows its wrong, you know your mother told you "Never hit a girl". I from experience have been beat and have also hit my ex in complete anger and pain he caused me. I am not a violent person whatsoever, but i do know people can push you to the extremes and make you become an ugly person even unknown to you! This isnt an excuse! But i believe a "wife beat'er' " is someone who makes a habit of it. Have you ever done it before or since then? If not, it could have been brought on by her and i know NO ONE likes being screamed at, so you probably just wanted her to shut up but you reacted too quickly without thinking. Its a sad situation because sometimes its just a really bad mistake, and you'd never touch her like that again...but the consequences are that the relationship may never be the same, in fact might actually lose her forever. No matter what, id kiss her *** if i were you..she deserves a great deal of apologizing from you. If you ever find yourself in this situation again, best thing is to just drop her off back at home...or leave. And when things are calm, then work whatever out. I dont know youre situation, but maybe you need to learn how to "extinguish" the situation before it gets out of hand and she needs to learn how to talk to you and not yell....tell her you cant stand being yelled at.
In conclusion, i understand your position...i know how someone can push you (even when people say its no excuse), someone can controll you so much and seriously be an @$$ or a total ***** and deserves to be slapped.....BUT it is wrong nonetheless, dont ever do it again, learn from this..and i wish you the best.

It is so easy to just stop the car and say get out!! This is what you should have done. Now if you find yourself hitting her all the time you need help,and there is help out there, if you don't then no you are not a wife beater. Was it OK for her to hit you NO!! does that make her a husband beater??

Omg.. NO you are not a wife beater.. ppl need to stop always throwing crap out there like that. You made a mistake.. and so did she... Talk about what happened.. both of you were in the wrong.. its not ok for her to hit you ever just as it is not ok for you to hit her ever.
Talk about what happened and resolve your issues... Make a relationship rule to never hit each other ever again.. and if either of you feel tempted .. then to walk away.

Wow you are so dumb. First of all, you shouldn't of hit her. You could of tried to calm her somehow. Second of all, you wouldn't count as a wife beater because all you did was slap her. big deal. If you were a wife beater, then you would be punching her and doing all that stuff.

Wow...I differ from most of these answers and I'm a woman...I say if she hits you she should get hit back...you are NOT a wife beater...you reacted normally to being hit but I'd say you BOTH need to deal with your anger differently.

There is absolutely NO reason to slap ANYONE. If you were driving you should have simply pulled off to the side of the road and gotten out and calmed down. If you would have hit me you'd be in jail right now.

if you only slapped her to make her stop hitting you then you are not a wife beater but if you keep hitting her then you are
