Not a chance.
A) TOM COUGHLIN: He's a power hungry jerk who the players have no respect for. His play calling sucks, his coaching staff sucks, and he blames the team rather than himself for losses.
B) INJURIES: Luke Petitgout, having his best career year breaks his leg. Notice Eli gets rushed, hit or sacked from the left side since then? No Strahan, no sacks, no tackles. Toomer is side-lined.
C) TIKI RETIRING: Couldnt he have shut up til the end of the season? Why say it 4 weeks into the year?
D) DEFENSE: The secondary still sucks. Where are all the forced turnovers that were supposed to happen?
E) NO HEART: Hey look, im a Giant fan of 30 years. Ive seen homeless people with more morale than this team. They dont want it enough. They hang their heads during the game if down by 3, like its the end of their season.
Now, im not saying Eli is not responsible at all. He makes stupid plays sometimes. But he shows sparks of greatness. He just needs time, which no one wants to give him. The media needs to take it easy on this kid.
The comparisons and blame on Eli MUST STOP. Stop comparing him to Philip Rivers or Ben Rothlisberger. AND STOP COMPARING HIM TO PEYTON. Its like comparing an 8th grader to a freshman in college. Its stupid, pointless, and unfair.
See? Without even reading the answers 1st, i just saw Football Chick's answer. She's right on the money. You go, girl.

When you take a look at the fall of a certain team, you should look first at the coach.
Sure, Eli has a major part in the fall, but probably the most influencial loss involved in the Giants' season, the Titans game, was mainly Tom Coughlin's fault. There was no reason Eli Manning should have thrown those interceptions. He shouldn't even had to throw the ball. When your leading by 21 in the fourth quarter, you should be focused on running out the clock.
Obviously, Eli shouldn't have thrown it deep on one of the picks, but that's a risk you take when you call a pass play that has that route for the reciever in it.
When your quarterback isn't clicking with the offense, you have to limit and simplify his plays to make sure he'll be able to accomplish what your asking of him.
Another reason the Giants have fallen this season was the injury of Strahan in the Texan game. Strahan is a major part of the defense, and is the biggest leader on the team. Without him, it seems like they are lost.
Eli Manning is one of the many problems the Giants have faced, but ultimately, it was Coughlin.

Eli is not the one to blame. He is doing his job. Sometimes he doesn't make the right choices and throws an interception. But nobody is perfect. Besides, that he is still very young and doesn't have much experience in the NFL. Also has to measure up to his brother Payton Manning and his Dad Archie Manning. They were and are NFL icons. Eli Manning is not to blame its the team.
Many teammates are giving up on plays and getting injured. Example: look at Toomer, He is out for the season due to surgery. The Giants were doing pretty well in the beginning with him. I do think they need a new Coach. Tom Coughlin is getting kind of old and is losing his touch. Also the Giants loss a great player like Will Allen. He is doing very well on the Miami Dolphins(Even though they blew their chance at making it to the playoffs).
Basically their is no I in TEAM.

As a Redskins fan, I love coach Tom Coughlin. He's a "disciplinarian," which apparently means someone who lacks self-control but yells and screams a lot. The Giants have a lot of talent, but they consistently play stupid football. Sure, they gave up far too much to get Eli, and he's been playing at merely an avobe-average level, but the problems on this team go way beyond him. The team has given up and hasn't played hard since week 6. It doesn't matter how talented you are if you don't try; just look at Randy Moss.

Why would you think that?
I'm not a big fan of Eli but don't forget, he DID go to the playoffs with them already.
Getting into the playoffs again may rekindle that spark in him and boost his confidence again.
As many problems that the Giants are having in EVERY aspect of the game, it would be unfair of me to say or agree that Eli is the sole or main cause of the Giants woes.

Eli is a great player but he is no Payton. We cannot excpect Payton Manning results from Eli. But, There is no way he is too blame. There defense has been lacking crap at the end of this season. Yes, Eli has not played his best ball but there team has fallen together. It is quite the shame. I was looking foward to seeing them go deep in the playoffs. Now, well my hopes have faded. Go Gettem in 08

Definetly not, Eli has not been amazingly good this year by far and he has been very inconsistent but the reason they are struggling is Tom Coughlin who has been a disaster in New York. He needs to be fired and a new coach needs to be put in place, possibly Cowher could not return to the Steelers and look for a job else where, he would easily transform this team to have a winning attitude.

Absolutly. The Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers trade is more the reason though. The Giants must have had a curse for all the bad luck that has been stowed upon them. Let me enlighten you on that Manning-Rivers trade;
GIANTS GET: ELI MANNING
CHARGERS GET: PHILLIP RIVERS, SHAWN MERRIMAN, Nate Kaeding
yea giants would have had a outside linebacker or a defensive end in Shawn Merriman and one of the leagues top kickers now, Nate Kaeding.
