I love Harrison Ford as an actor, but isn't he a bit old to play that part these days?

It has been in pre-production for about 5 years and still no script and not a lot of cast members confirmed.

I keep checking on it from time to time and still no updates.

Edit...When I signed on to MSN today (12/29), this was one of the top headlines...

Lucas to shoot next ‘Indiana Jones’ in 2007

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - George Lucas said Friday that filming of the long-awaited “Indiana Jones” movie will begin next year.
Harrison Ford, who appeared in the three earlier flicks, the last one coming in 1989, is set to star again.

Lucas said he and Steven Spielberg recently finalized the script for the film.

That is a million dollar question. There's so many rumors flying around that I really don't know what to believe any more. It has been classified as "pre-production" since goodness knows when & pre-production could mean anything. It may not get off the ground. Personally I felt they should stop at 3 films. After all, the "Last Crusade" title means just that.
Having said that, if Lucas & Spielberg really makes the 4th Indy movie, I'll be the first in the queue come opening day!!!

if they keep the cast last listed, here is the official cast so far:

Indiana Jones: Harrison Ford
Sale: whats his name... cant think of it
Indi's father: Sean Conery
Indi's Brother: Tom Seleck (selected because he was the original pick for Indiana Jones 30 years ago but Magnum PI got in the way)

The following have been confirmed in interviews.

Kate Kapshaw
and
Karren Allen
will reprise their roles.

and there is a rumor of Short Stuff (Temple of Doom) also returning.

definite, I heard that he replaced into. In an interview, he reported they have a script at the same time. I agree, he's stunning. He has a clean movie popping out called "Firewall" he did not say at the same time as the hot Indiana Jones movie will be out. Ford reported that Steven Spielberg continues to be engaged on the script yet that, "with somewhat of luck, he will fulfill himself and we are going to get on with it extremely quickly." This replaced into on the CBS Early coach.

Yes, it's being developed by Ford, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg. M. Night Shyamalan was once considered as a possible screenwriter.
