My girlfriend wants me to give her great time on New Year in NYC but I don't know where to take her! She loves to dance, she likes parties and restaurants, she doesn't like clubs where there's so muany people it's nowhere to dance, and, most importantly, we're both quite poor. :-)

We're poor too and going to NYC on New Year's eve :P
Go to times square for the ball drop, best pizza I had in lower Manhattan, not sure on the name Johny's or something...
We park in Brooklyn and take a train.

NY might not be a good choice if you are poor. A "cheap" hotel there is $250. Most New Yorkers stay at home on New Year's Eve where it's warm, comfy and where you can get drunk and pass out on the sofa, not on the cold sidewalk.

times square is the ticket
it is cheap
very crowded, full of activity and the energy is terrific.
commit to the crowd and the date will be successful!
