I've had a viral infection and have been sick for a few days. Sorethroat, earache, etc. I haven't been taking in as many fluids as I usually do, would this cause a yeast infection?? I think that I am getting one. I havent had sex in a few weeks, what else would cause this? Anything is appreciated!

if you are on antibiotics.. such as amoxicillian, it can cause a yeast infection.. I've gotten a yeast infection from taking too much amoxicillian b4, that is one of the side effects.. hopefully that helps.. or it can just be for no reason at all... good luck!

I don't think that water intake, +/-, should make a difference in whether you are getting a yeast infection really. But, if you've been taking antibiotics for your upper respiratory symptoms, then that is a well known cause vaginal infections in women.

If you don't already, take some yogurt on a daily basis; that (with or without antibiotic use as the culprit) could help clear it up.

If the infection still occurs, one low cost way of treating it is to insert PLAIN yogurt into the vaginal vault and let it sit there overnight while you sleep. I've avoided a trip to the doctor and a trip to the drug store several times this way and kept a bunch of money in my pocket.

Also, if the infection happens and the overnight yogurt trick doesn't work, then go to see your gynecologist to ensure that you don't have something more serious than a yeast infection, such as an STD.

And definitely stay celibate until this clears to be sure that your partner won't be infected and pass the yeast infection back to you. If a yeast infection is what it is, he may not have obvious symptoms and swear that he "feels just fine"--this is also true for STD infections. If a man infects a woman, then she often will get/feel the symptoms before the guy does, so keep this in mind also.

Are you taking antibiotics??? It is a known fact that antibiotics can mess with your natural flora.. In other words they can and often do interfere with your natural PH or flora of the vagina and can cause yeast to grow out of control, hence the dreaded yeast infection..Have you ever had one? if not the signs are Redness, tenderness, ITCHING, and a white discharge... Don't worry, just go to the drugstore and purchase over the counter medication for the yeast infection. fluids and sex have nothing to do with a yeast infection. I know this might sound funny but it helps to eat yogurt.. there is something in it that helps prevent yeast infections, weird huh, but true.. I hope you feel better soon...

Yeast infections can be caused by antibiotics. Are you on them. On the other hand, yes, you can get a yeast infection if the chemicals (and bacteria) in your body are out of whack, you don't need to be ill for this, but a distressed immune system (you're sick now) can help the progession of yeast infection. Good luck.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Eat some yogurt to replace the "good" bacteria that normally resides in your nether regions, and if you have the signs of a yeast infection take an over-the-counter med for it. The one-day doses usually aren't enough and can cause bad cramping, so I would advise using the 3 or 7day doses.

If that doesn't clear it up, go see your doc for stronger meds. Use a condom if you have sex in the next week or two. Good luck, and feel better!

certain antibiotics can cause yeast infections. You can drink cranberry juice and eat pain yogurt to help but if it doesn't get any better in a few days go back to your doctor.

whenever you are run down it provides more opportunity for the "bad bacteria" in your body to take over... if you have been sick there's a pretty good chance it is a yeast infection as you naturally have the yeast bacteria Candida albicans, symptoms= redness, itchiness and an uncomfortable burning sensation.

yes your system is out of balance. if you are taking antibiotics that can cause a yeast infection. increase your fluids, drink cranberry juice keep clean and dry. if it gets worse or doesnt go away get some medication for it from the drug store or see the doctor. there are herbal supplements and teas that might help too.
