In developed countries, that so many more children survive childhood and become adults is a significant contribution. That is, fewer infectious diseases and fewer early deaths. That's just a start.

Some others:
comfort (air conditioning and heat)
abundance of food (fertliizers, wind power, mass farming)
medications
understanding how to live healthier (e.g., vitamins, minerals, types of foods to eat and/or to avoid)
ease of communication (phone, e-mail, etc.) which has made the world open to more people (travel, moving to another part of the country) while simultaneously allowing them to maintain the bonds with their family and friends
mass communication (t.v., radio, Internet)
transportation (cars, mass transit)

Hope that helps!

The contribution of science in our daily life has always been ONLY an improvement on any existing natural daily needs. For example , cell phone was invented long ago but was put into daily use only now. Were there not people managing without cell phone all these years? Similar is the case from Electric tooth brush to computers.

Looking at the overall contribution of scinece, I would say, the catalyst has been been miniaturisation of technology, in every field. This has led to more appications in all the fields.

Let me ad that all scitific discoveries are RE discoveries of all the existing things. Nothing new.

We work, cook, travel, communicate, entertain ourselves and eachother, make and keep ourselves safer and healthier, and often make better love with Science. It's a scientific fact that Science contributes greatly to nearly every aspect of our daily lives. Without it, we'd be monkeys still. That brief enough??

At least as much as the contribution of philosophy is. Without science we had to go to the river to drink water, like the caveman rub a Worden stick for hours to make the fire, grow beard cause there won't be electric shavers, no clock to check the time, no toilet to dump... well you got the picture.

Science is not a thning in itself. I think it should be said what is the contribution of human research.I honestly think it is erroneous and dangerous to talk as though science is somethiing other than man using his reason.
