What do you have to do on Playstation 2 in order to get it into dvd player mode and back to game mode?

I mean how do you get a DVD to work on it.I have a completely new one.

I had the same issue and called sony. They say after awhile the lazers on the playstation 2 start going out, and all it will do is play games. They said their is no way to fix the problem.

Dust off your where you put the dvd.Clean the dvd rom with rubbing aclhocol and use a cotton ball to wipe it.then it should work.or just get a dvd player not to be rude or anything.hope it works

sounds like your laser is out...cheape to just buy another one....
