My girlfriend got her period a few days late this month, she had light bleeding today, and she expects the bleeding to be heavier tomorrow. However, she didn't have the breast pains, and the other cramps she usually has prior to her period this month. She's 18, and I'm 19, and we've been having sex regularly for the last 3 months, but we've always used condoms. I'm a little worried, even though we always use protections. Please help me out here!

She is still growing. Bodies change, and periods change with them...I wouldn't worry about it unless it was a few late..

BTW, have you asked about this? Maybe her period is irregular to begin with...

It is something to be cautious about, but not overly worried, as women's cycles/periods can and do change over time--she may be starting to have different symptoms that, again, will change in her late 20's, then again in her 30's, etc.

To relieve the stress and anxiety which all by themselves can affect her cycles and make her late, definitely do a pregnancy test. Over the counter ones in a drug store are just fine--though there are reports that some women absolutely do not respond to those tests, getting an inaccurate reading, but this is rare.

In the future, if you're certain that you are using the condom truly correctly, do consider adding more "methods"--there are spermacides that are inserted prior to intercourse, the cervical cap for her, etc.

Planned Parenthood can certainly present you two a wide range of additional contraception options to boost the rate of success with condom use. They can also check out your condom-use skills and give pointers on how to improve.

Good luck.

If she is using protection she will be fine. Remember how freaking the mind can work. The brain is a complicated thing. If she believes she is preg...she will have symptoms. Only what she has created. When I was younger I had the same problem. Plus if she is not eating right that can also irregulate her period. I say, calm down. Eat right...try to distress. In a few month if she does not have her period, just take a preg test. I would say to take it sooner, but you have to wait to take it in order for it to detect the correct hormones. Good Luck, you will be ok.

Not to alarm you but I have heard of people having light periods during pregnancy. The only way to know for sure is to get a blood test. Hopefully it will be negative and then ya'll can talk about doubling up on protection, (maybe an IUD and a condom, or birth control and a condom?). I'm sure you'll be good. Good luck!

i don't think there is anything to worry about a girls menstrual cycle changes often somtimes it can be heavy or light depending on the month and day it falls on however if it is shorter than her normal days and much much lighter than i would consult a doctor or buy a home pregnancy test, but don't worry a womans body is different from the next but if you are worried than to ease ypur mind your girlfriend can go to any planned parenthood and request a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side and it would be wise to talking to someone there and getting info. on preventing pregnancy and possible birth control like the pill, good luck!!!

Well since you are both sexually active for awhile now, maybe her body isn't used to the regular sexual activity just yet. If she continues to have weird symptoms I suggest going to the doctor to get a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side because condoms are not 100% effective, it is still possible to get pregnant even when using protection.

Periods are not an exact science. They can be heavier or lighter each month and your body can feel different each time. I find that if I am exercising my periods are lighter and I don't feel as bad. Stress, exercise, weight, colds, lots of things can effect your period. I am glad you are using protection, please continue.

If she has a period her body is getting rid of the egg (she is not pregnant).I suggest you try depo provera(birth control 97% effective) and condoms (for protection and birth control).

Yes you should be worried. You will be confronted with this every month. Unless of course one of you buddies breaks through and hitsa bulls eye.

When them women's periods starts each month it is then they usually take on another personality and turn into a different woman..

Beware, you have been warned.

She should be OK. Periods, are not always on time. If you are scared of the outcome, try to get her on the pill to be extra protected.
