Only use fondation if your natural skintone is uneven.
Use a bronzer, as opposed to a blush, to give a sun-kissed look.
Use mascara & curl your lashes.
Use eyeliner, if any, only on outside corners.
Skip eyeshadow or only use light neutral tones (lighter color on lid & darker in crease)
Even eyshadow out by using bronzer blush (same used on cheeks) on eyelid just under brow & above crease.
A light powder can reduce shimmer or sheen from natural oils in skin or irredescent nature of some toners.
Skip lip-liners, but use lip-volumizing gloss for natural & kissable looking lips.
Together, these steps create a very natural look.. making you appear as if you are not really even wearing make-up, especially in pictures.

If there is a Community College near you, they may have a make-up course, or a hairstyling course which includes some make up training. The students are often in need of models, and there is a good chance they'll be happy to practice on you. If they charge at all, the fee will be very reasonable, and as they work you'll learn simply by paying attention. Bonus to this plan is they'll use colors and techniques that bring out the best of YOU, not just some generic "get it out of a book" thing. I get my haircuts at the nearby CC for $2.00 a pop in the barbering school area, free at exam/test time.

Well if you are really young you might want to consider just using some really natural things, all you need is a little light foundation, or what I find best is a tinted moisturizer, because it gives your skin the moisture it needs as well as some color and you can buy ones with an SPF as well, then just put on a little mascara, blush and lipgloss, maybe eyeliner if you feel you are ready but if you haven't really had that much experience then maybe you should skip the eyeliner!
Good Luck

Earth tones
lightly applied.
Lighter on the eye lid, and darker on the crease.
Lips: Use a shade or two darker than your natural, or just use some gloss.
Base, just use whats close to your skin tone. Dot on around your face and blend in. You won't need much.
Then use a bronzer, instead of a blush.
If you have a MAC nearby, it's only $50. for a makeover with lesson, and you get to apply the money toward your make-up.
It might be a good investment for you, but make sure they know that you want a natural look!
Have fun!

Have your face made up by someone who knows what to do , some comestic companies offer a free make over, you can go to most major department type stores for one. Just DON'T buy the product until you know what look you want, and what types of products work for you.
I use a foundation thats closest to the tone on my forehead, I always clean my face well, then apply a liberal amount of hand lotion. while my face is still a little "slippery " I dab on the foundation. For me, the hand lotion makes the foundation go on smoothly and I get a more uniform coverage that evens out the normal differances in skin tones. Make sure to blend ( rub gently )the foundation into your neck so you don't end up with wierd look

Use as little as possible. I use a foundation that is my own skin tone to even out my complexion, then I put on lose powder to set the foundation so its not all shiny looking. A little powdered rouge on my cheeks and a little eyeliner on the bottom. I have done this along time and I don't look fake. No one has ever told me I wear too much makeup and if I am going out I might put on some eyeshadow and mascara.Done in 5 min. time

Use small amounts of foundation, eye shadow, and mascara. Use natural colors. Try covering your eyelid with a color that matches your skin tone, then for the crease of your eyelid, darker shade of the same color. This will make your eyes look very nice.

It depends on what brand of make up you use and the stroke. I use MAC "Studio Tech" It goes on really naturally, and doesn't come off as cakey or anything...
As for eyes, you can use liquid eyeliner and apply a thin line. Liquid eyeliner looks more natural because it's not all smudged.
If you want- you can apply cream foundation to your eyelids, as well- it'll get rid of the creases, and you can then apply a light coat of shimmery brown eye shadow..

Natural bases, of course, and not too much. What I especially suggest, though, is to put on eyeliner, preferably liquid, in a shade of black or gray. But lightly, not dark. It will make your eyes POP! and people will be wowed over.
If you don't need blush, don't use it.
Don't cake on the makeup. It makes people look like Barbie dolls.
