There's only one way to do this successfully. This requires:
Your iPod
Your computer (needs itunes)
Your friends computer. (doesn't need itunes)
1.With your iPod in yYOUR computer, you have to "enable disk use." To do this, go into iTunes and on the side bar, and click on "Your Ipod," or whatever you named it. (The side bar is where you can switch between your library, podcasts, playlists, iPod etc. You see it at all times. ) Here you should be seeing a list of all your music (if there is any) on your iPod. Above your music list should be tab titled, "contents." Click on the Settings tab beside it. There should a check box labeled, "Enable disk use." Make sure that check box IS checked.
2. Okay, now your iPod can hold data! Now go to your friends house and plug in your iPod. If a window in Itunes pops up asking you if you want to sync and erase all your files, say no/cancel (whichever it says). Okay, since your computer should see the Ipod as a storage device, In my computer you just drag the files over to that drive. Then the music should be on your iPod.
3. Go home, put them on your computer, then in your library in itunes. Happy transfers!
If your friend downloaded any music through iTunes and it needs to be authorized... that's another story entirely.
PS If you want to transfer your music from your iPod to his computer, you have to display hidden files, then go into one of your folders in your iPod then transfer them through "My Computer."
Good luck!

the different answer is misguided. All you ought to do is connect his iPod on your laptop and make a playlist of the songs he needs and then click and drag the playlist into the gadget together with his call and wait till it finishes the deselect.
