I have a degree in Social Science with minors in political science and history. I cant find a job. Can somebody list some careers for me. Or should I go back and get another degree such as law school? I suck at science and math. Any suggestions?

No! Don't go back to school just yet. Get some work experience first and think about picking up some internships. I recommend that you look into jobs at the Rand Corporation/Research or you might want to look into applying for jobs within educational institutions or local city governments. Think about what enviroment you want to work in and who you want to serve. Are you interested in helping people? Are you a planner? Or do you prefer to work in routine setting? Think about your work values and ask yourself what are the top 3 things you can't do without. I would recommend that you google "what can I do with a major in" and you will see a list of career job titles that you can start applying for. Also, think about taking the Myers Briggs indicator personality type. Go online and take the free assessment and see what your personality type is and that will also give you some insights into the type of jobs/careers you should be searching for. Lastly, look at the skils that you currenlty possess. What are you good at? What are you passionate about? When you can answer these questions you will be in a better position to look for work. But don't run back to graduate school just yet. Give yourself some work experience before you make a huge investment. And if you still want to apply to law school then at least get a job in the public defenders office and get a taste before you get into debt. Hope this helps.

Have you looked in government, jobs not just social work or prob/parole? I am thinking law enforcement, corrections not an officer but in admin. or training or mental health? Like kids? Juvie has a lot of jobs, and court systems in general hire soc sci people. Try Catholic and Lutheran diocese for many jobs including adoption, volunteer recruiter/manager. Contact the Junior League and see if they have any new projects that need a manager. The entire mental health field is open to you starting with kids to the elderly. Try city, county, state and federal apps. and they will contact you if something comes up. You could go for CIA or FBI, ATF or Border Patrol. If you need more info. you can email me. Best of luck to you!

shouldn't she have thought about this three years ago before starting a particular degree? The job that springs to mind would be social worker, but she will need to do postgrad study. Or she could go into some kind of trainee management scheme with virtually any large company.

Enterprise rent a car has a good traiing program that is only for college graduates. They will teach you the ropes of how to manage a business and the people within it. Good for those with a sales emphasis, but you can end up transferring within the comapny and getting trained in area you want if you work hard.
Check out their web site. Good luck to you.

A probation officer is an option. Entry level probation officers generally require a BA in any field of study. It is something you can do in the mean time or it may open doors for other opportunities. Good luck!

Many jobs require degrees and don't care what they're in. A bachelors degree just means that you are capable of learning a batch of information. What do you want to do?

Walk into your political party's local headquarters and tell them you can help. Bring a resume, dress like a leader, think politically correct, be willing to stuff envelopes and answer the phone for minimum wage, and pay attention. Local level politics is an excellent entry point for people who actually have something to offer and just need a chance to be recognized. Good luck to you.

apply for a job with your states social services or social work. you can continue on to get your MSW.

You can also continue your studies and become a psychologist or psychiatrist.

You can also try a stab at Human Resources.

Your best bet is to get your masters in a more defined field that your credits will support.

good luck

If you have the funds, go back and get your law degree or get your teaching certificate. It totally depends on what type of job you want.
