My children are fascinated with meteors, although they have not witnessed them personally. I want to find out when the biggest ones are predicted for my area, but I don't know where to find the information. Can anyone suggest some good websites that I can visit to get a schedule of predicted meteor showers? I would love to watch some with my kids. -Thanks in advance-

The Quadrantids, January 3rd, can have up to 2 meteors a minute, but it's a full moon this year. If you live in an area where the full moon isn't noticed much then you'll have a very hard time seeing meteors indeed. You might catch a few, but besides, it's winter, and cold, if everyone's not in insulated sleeping bags then you'll be uncomfortable very soon.

The Perseids peak in August 12, when it's warm, and they'll be no moon. If you want you can take a trip to a dark national park in the west, lie down on a blanket and wait. If they expect them to fall like rain though, they'll be very dissapointed, for there are around 90 Perseids an hour at most, all the way down to only maybe 1 per hour in Manhattan.
