My Dad is still driving my Grandma's 1987 Chevy Celebrity sedan-- basically the same car. It needs the same maintenance as any functioning automobile and the body has been looking pretty crappy for the last 10 years or so... but I think it has 250,000 miles on it. Yours will last as long as you are putting money into the necessary repairs/upkeep.

If you own it, even better. Car payments are a pain!

I have a GM minivan that I've beat the crap out of for some time and it's sitting pretty at 220,000mi. My parents got rid of their 89 bonneville a few years back when it was at 250,000mi, not because of a bad engine, but because the body rusted out.

What i'm implying is that your car can last another 100,000mi or more, assuming you're car is resonably rust free and the engine has no severe problems right now.

It depends on how well it was taken care of. The longest a car went was 6 million miles and it was a Volvo. On average, American cars die around 200,000-250,000 miles. If it was taken care of and taken to get serviced at the scheduled times from the drivers manual, then it could reach over 250,000.

a week, a day.... sell it or trade it in. Cavaliers are known as problamatic cars. They are bottom end cars with delicate engines. Their only purpose is basic transportation. If it is in good working order, sell it now while you still can.Chevrolet makes many good and reliable vehicles, the cavalier/cobalt have never been amongst these vehicles.

As long as you change you oil as soon as it gets dirty.... check it at least once a month.... and when it looks brown change it! Also using fuel injector cleaner and tune ups, your car should last upto 300K My dad has a 2001 intrepid with 250K and it runs like a champ, he babys it though..... I do the same with my 4 vehicles.... prevetative maintenance is the key!
