I had Netflix and was very satisfied for the most part. The only annoyance is that they will throttle you back if you are an extreme user. If you send back too many movies the very next day, the service starts getting very slow. They put in the queue behind more casual users.
I can't say anything for Blockbuster except I think you can actually go to the brick and mortor store yourself and grab any movie on the shelf rather than their mercy.
If you will be a casual user, say a couple movies per week, then I would just look at price and convenience factors.

I have used blockbuster before and was totally happy with them. I picked my movies and the day after I had gotten them. I have never had any problems with them. As for Netflix, i think it was about a year or two ago that there was a lawsuit against them because people that were renting 2-3 movies or more were not getting them like they were supposed to. Netflix wasn't making enough money or something like that so they would hold on for a couple of days longer before they would send the movies out which then resulted in their customers getting free movies-if I remember right. look it up on the internet.

I have had Netflix for two years now and tried out Blockbuster. I found that netflix had a wider array of movies, was cheaper overall and screwed me less. Netflix constantly asks you about your receiving date to make sure, has no trouble sending you a new copy if an old copy is broke or scratched (by you or someone else and has only happened once) and has a better web set-up and recommendations. Netflix has been doing it longer and it seems its gottin it down to a science.

I like netflix because I don't have to leave the house. Blockbuster rarely has anything I want to watch available.

blockbuster is better because you receive your dvd in the mail return it to the store, and choose a (free) movie rental from the store while you are waiting for your next dvd to arrive in the mail.
Netflix can leave you waiting for a dvd to arrive with no other movies
