I live over here in the UK,best thing you can do when you arrive go into a shop/petrol station buy a pay as you go sim card , and £10 worth of top up , it should last you a couple of days,but don't expect to phone home( et )

I don't know if they work in UK or vice versa. But I've never heard of a disposible mobile (cell) phone before!

It should depending on your phone type, tri-band, quadi-band etc. Also check with the provider to activate if it is PAYG or with the contract packages to give you cheaper billing package.
Getting another line is quite cheap though if you've got the right phone for it.
I will check with the provider first for options.

yes. most cell phones are tri-band/quad-band. activate your international roaming service (costs a lot though).
or have your cel open-lined from your present provider and buy a pay-as-you-go SIM card in UK.

BUY A PAYG SIM CARD WITH CREDIT AND USE THAT ITS MUCH CHEAPER BUT REMEMBER TO MAKE SURE YOUR NUMBERS ARE ON THE PHONE NOT THE SIM CARD GOOD LUCK FROM A BRIT
