Man, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Only you forgot about how they have us trained to be so impotent that we are virtually powerless in spite of the constitution and all of its democratic rights.

Or how Washington moved to Tel Aviv YEARS AND YEARS ago and that all of the major moves come out of Israel (we get to figure out the small stuff over here)

Or about how the Palestinians are the worlds largest Refugee group yet the true story is flipped backwards to keep the world angry at the true victims and to continue to feed the vicious cycle.

We do have some problems, but it's not beyond all repair.

We've always been divided. That's what makes this country so great. If we all agreed on everything we'd be a fascist or socialist state with no free will.

The liberals hate Bush for no reason other than that he's republican, but the conservatives aren't too happy with him because he hasn't done enough to fix the problems he said he would fix. It's true, that most people wish Bush were more conservative and didn't let the liberals walk all over him and force him to not do what he should. I guess the press controls so much these days that he can't do anything good without criticism.

On the other hand he's done great with the tax cuts. They really boosted the economy to the best in our history, and the lowest unemployment in our history as well. This has caused an actual increase in government revenues, which means he should've cut taxes even more. Nevertheless, it has really helped to boost the middle class and lift up the lower class economy.

Actually what we call "poverty level" is much higher than it was decades ago. So we're always doing better. The working poor have homes, cars, TVs, cel phones. Not really poor when you think about it. Lowering taxes always helps the poor the most.

I wish Bush had stuck to his guns on fixing Social Security, but the lies from the press really made it impossible to do that.

He said he'd do some tort reform, but I haven't seen much done in that area. The lawyers still lobby big time in Washington.

Iraq was invaded because of all the UN regulations that were broken. The senate and house all voted to go to war, so he just did what they wanted. Even Clinton said we needed to invade, so everyone was in agreement there. I still think it was a good idea even though we all knew it would be difficult. But as a country we always feel we can accomplish the impossible. It's been a tough problem to fix and it would've been easier if we'd done something sooner. Problems like those only get bigger when you ignore them.

I don't like his creation of a North American Union. That's more socialist than conservative, so that worries me. I don't know where that's going and it's not what most wanted.

As usual, China and Russia can never be trusted, but I'm not sure what's best to handle them.

It's true that spending is out of control. Every year it goes up and no one ever seems to lower it. That's one of the areas were Bush is not doing what conservatives want.

All in all I think we're doing good. Good economy, lots of prosperity. Little nagging problems that need dealing with, but I guess we can't get everything we want.

I'm looking forward to another great year, so Happy New Year to all of you out there in Yahoo Answers Land !!

America became FUBAR'd the day Bush was elected. What is really even more sad, is some of these 50-60 year old conservatives you'll find at the local pub who will proudly proclaim how well the country has operated under Bush. Unfortunataley these are the folks that vote..

"Iraq was invaded because of all the UN regulations that were broken"

UTTERLY FALSE! Iraq converted its system of oil payments from dollars to Euros shortly before the war. This kind of precedent the US could not tolerate for very serious economic implications. UN was a convenient excuse.. This war was a il concieved message to other nations that might follow..

America can blame itself.. Our apathetic society is feeding off of itself in a negative spiral to the bottom, for all the reasons you mentioned above and many others.. Our legal system is bloated, inefficient and has a mal aligned set of priorities that thrusts an ever burgeoning poorer population into felonous categories that do not allow for them to escape their past because they couldnt afford a proper legal defense. Many states that were successfully sued because their police force failed to protect a "victim" now have laws that allow for overzealous prosecution of everyone charged with a crime with no margin for application of context, thereby increasing criminal statistics and thrusting more people into a category of unemployable "undesirables" who cant apply for college loans and must suffer the rest of their lives surfing the bottom.

Who said, "he's done great with Tax Cuts?" *Sigh* Its getting harder to be polite.. Although the theory is such that tax cuts puts money into the hands of the people who will then spend it, putting it back into the economy, this hasnt happened for several reasons but mostly because (a.) We're paying for a very expensive war, which if you calculate the likely final cost of the war at around 1.5 trillion dollars and divide that into the population of the United States, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out Americans would fare far better.. Furthermore, (b.) tax cuts take money away from the government. Bush's administration has been on a perpetual spending spree.. Less money for gov't higher expenses.. Less jobs.. (fewer quality jobs) reshaping of our economy.. manufacturing and service industries are fleeing.. We'll be left with a consumer society very dependant on other countries who will likely favor pegging their money to the Euro, which will then setoff dramatic decline in our standard of living..

"Russia and China" The person that posted that these countries can't be trusted should remember that one of Bush's first acts as president was to disolve a long standing nuclear test ban agreement, labeling it as "outdated" and "designed for an era that has long passed.. " REMEMBER THAT when you read of North Korea test-firing off underground nuclear devices.. REMEMBER THAT the next time the United States turns to Russia and China for help trying to prevent proliferation and testing of these nuclear devices.. .

We Americans won't act or disolve our apathy until we cant afford our gas hungry SUVs or the mortage..

To the original OP, high-five for your post.
