I want to send an card to my clients who is now away in NY. All his email and postal address is in the company's database and my email is intended to be personal. Do you think I am going to breach the law of privacy if I use his email ( which is in company's data base) to send an ecard to him?
Thanks

An employer can access an employees emails.....I don't think a "real" personal type email would be appropriate but news, or how are you, or bringing him up to date on personal things won't hurt him at work.

Taking the client's address from your work database to use on your personal email is not professional and is a misuse of trusted information. Your employer could actually fire you for this. Plus it does not give a very professional impression to your client. If you want to send the client a card, send a physical/paper card, not an ecard, and send it from the entire company, not just you.

It sounds a little strange for you to even know of his company email account and password or etc in the first place. If you are not with consent, and even if you are, then I suggest you not. You are not an employee of the company as I can tell and it would be an infraction on company policy. As for the employer ability of monitoring employee emails does not matter seeing as it is legal if stated within company policy for officials to do so.

No, I don't think so.
