The skin had been very dry for a few months, and that is when it lost it's sensitivity; however, the skin is back to smooth now and the lack of sensitivity is still the same. It has trouble getting very erect and I don't feel much at all to the touch. The other nipple is completely normal.

I think you should ask your doctor. This could be a sign of breast cancer. Do it ASAP before it spreads.
