Everyday my mum and I fight over this controversial issue. She always seems to wash up the plates in the sink and make me dry them although there is a perfectly good, in pristine condition dishwasher calling out 'Use me use me!' But no i cant seem to convince her to use it can I. Any suggestions?

The other answere are good ones, but one thought is missing. Did it occur to you that just maybe she wants your company. Maybe that's the only time she can corner you long enough to get you to talk to her. Use the time with her. Before you know it, you'll wish you could stand there and dry her dishes for her,. Not trying to be morbid or anything, it's just what crossed my mind in reading your question.

Not all dishwashers are water savers. The newer models are energy efficient and have a water-saving feature, but this isn't so on older dishwashers. The other thing is, the dishwasher should only be used when the dishwasher is completely full. Washing dishes by hand can save water if you don't have the rinse water running constantly. Both you and your Mom can be happy!

I have a lot fewer colds in the winter since I started using my dishwasher. The water in the dishwasher is much hotter than a person can bear so it sterilizer the dishes much better. Those two facts alone should make a person want to use the dishwasher.........

Maybe u should show her how to use it, or start washing the dishes urself so she can see that dishwasher gets the dishes washed at a much faster rate over time she will learn to make her life more complex.

theres no way...
until shes old and cant move
and thats when wont even have plates to wash
let her do what she wants to do, it makes her happy
my mom is the same way
she doesnt make me dry them though, she just places them in the dishwasher to dry (doesnt use it)
she only uses the dishwasher when we have a huge party
and theres too many to do
but yeh just let her do whatever she wants to do
if u want to stop drying

then let her wash, put them in the dishwasher to dry
and take her shopping

tell her kindly that you want to treat her to a night off from dish duty and she can leave for a walk or visit with friends then you load that dishwasher up and use it!

i think ur mom knows best , dishwashers never clean as good as it can be done in the sink, dishwashers are for lazy people who don't care also , just the general interaction in the family , time to talk , that's one of the problems today is people don't spend good time with family regularly

Some people just dont like them. My grandarents still do not use theirs. I think the only time it gets any use is if any of us grandchildren are there, and i am not going to mess up my mani by washing dishes!!
