Thank you for your answer.

What exactly do you mean by MAC address or WAP, is that something extra I need?

Run the Internet sharing wizard on the Windows box, then connect the two computers with an Ethernet cable.

Alternatively, get a router and connect both computers to that. Then the router will take care of the Internet connection.

Edit: The router can be either wired or wireless; get any one you like, since they're all pretty much the same anyway (although I avoid Netgear due to poor technical support). Whether you choose a wired or wireless connection doesn't make much difference in how you set things up, since the two types of connection are conceptually equivalent. Check the help pages on the Windows box for how to find the Internet sharing wizard.

You don't really need to worry about MAC addresses just yet; WPA is one type of security you can put on a wireless network. Your wireless router's documentation will explain all that.
(A MAC [Media Access Card] address is a unique identifying number on your computer's network card, different from your IP address.)

And if you don't know much about Macs, then please read http://www.apple.com/support/switch101 .

Hello italianoxdude,

If you have a WiFi System already set up at home, and your Mac has an Airport card, your Macintosh should detect it automatically. No need to set up anything. I do everything from the menulets. It tells me how much signal strength is there and what wireless systems are available to pick from. You may need to set this up through the Internet Connect application.

Usually when you first set up your Mac OS X, you get an automated network assistant (like the Wizard on Windows), but since you've already set it up without Internet, you can do it manually.

Your Internet connection is done through the System Preferences settings. Mouse up to the blue Apple logo at the top left and go down to the Systems Preferences... menu command. Under the "Internet & Network" title, single-click on the Network icon. You'll get a dialog box for both your modem, Ethernet, and Airport (WiFi) settings.

Best of luck to you. If you need any help, remember, you can go up to the Help menu command and type in what ever you need help with.

Hello, fellow Mac user here. You can easily share internet access using a wireless broadband router. You can buy them at any large retailer, ideally BestBuy or CircuitCity. There are various speeds available, but any will do, as broadband access is generally a lower speed than any available wireless router. It's too easy, trust me. Your Mac should automatically work, as should your PC. Any questions about Mac, ask me, I know a great deal about the Mac.

hundreds of router brands.... I use a netgear and a linksys (cisco)

they both work macs and pcs. Stay away from the off-brand routers because they don't all do the security protocols correctly... and often it's the macs that suffer!

Make sure you implement some kind of security (MAC address or WAP are the best), wep is easy to crack. and open is just , well, open!

Get a wireless router.
I have a MacBook and a pc desktop too, and I was able to get online as soon as I got my MacBook because we already had the router set up. =)

you need a wireless router and your notebook should have a wireless card already in it...or atleast mine did..but its not a mac...macs aren't very good..well atleast I don't think so.

you can make your desktop wireless too if you get the kit....

anyway set up the wireless router into the internet connector..the dsl box or whatever you use. and then from the wireless router you can connect the desktop even with a cable, and the notebook for internet.

also on the notebook make sure to twitch the little button over to wireless!

hope this helps...
my boyfriend tried explaining it all to me when I got my notebook...so hopefully I'm explaining it well for you!

The easyest way is to use a wirless router
i assume your mac has an airport extreme card so all you need to do is set up a wirless network with almost any router (make sure ur isp approves) and you'll be able to access it with the mac

To access the wizard, go to your control panel (from the start menu). It should be under Network and Internet Connections.

regrettably you won't be able to. you should purchase a instantaneous community Adapter from a shop and set up it on your laptop (or have somebody set up it for you) so as which you will hook up with the wifi connection. those run from $20 and up.
