Breakfast is always in the morning.
Lunch/Brunch is usually from around 11am - 2pm
Dinner/Supper is usually 4pm - 8pm

However any of these meals can be eaten at anytime. To get technical, Dinner and Supper is not the same! Dinner is a bigger meal then supper. Dinner would be held usually between 4pm - 8pm and then supper is considered a light snack maybe a sandwich or something later in the evening. Then again some people will say Supper and some will say Dinner meaning the same thing. I know one person who calls lunch dinner for all 3 meals, but I know what he means.

It is a "country" thing, from farming country, to call the midday meal "dinner." The custom for many years in the rural areas was to have a big meal at midday and a smaller meal, rather like a big snack, for the evening meal. These people call the evening meal "supper." In one way, the wisdom of this practice is evident, in that the work of the afternoon is a more healthy event following a big meal than is the rest-time and sleep of the night.
On the other hand, such a big meal makes one sleepy, and may affect productivity during the afternoon. In the past, some would take a nap, similar to the Mexican siesta, after "dinner", the big noon meal.
