No, it is a matter of our evolved nature. I suggest you read Robert Trivers, on reciprocal altruism. A concept that has been scientifically accepted for some 30 years, or more. Naturally, as all human evolved and genetically influenced behavioral traits, it is under a normally distributed curve. To the most of us, about 70%, obligation is well influenced by our evolved heritage and reflected in our laws. As usual, there are always those that are in the tail of distribution; in a word, cheaters.

Would you think this if it were an obligation to you? Heck no it shouldn't be a perspective, that is what is wrong with this world in that we dilute everything and dumb it down to make it fit our needs rather than rising to a higher level.

it's felt.
in some cultures the obligation is social.
but always a matter of perspective.
just take child support for example.
those receiving it think it is not enough. usually.
those payin it think it is too much. usually.
