Most satin is just cheap polyester. Cotton is nice (over 800 thread count), but jersey t-shirt sheets are fantastic! They are warm when you crawl in and are so soft... Plus, unlike "satin" , cotton breathes. Another good organic choice is bamboo sheets. They are incredibly soft and are from a renewable source.

Satin is too slippery for me as sheets but ok for pillowcases. Prefer Sateen cotton sheets, cotton that makes to feel like satin :)

Is the satin polyester or silk? I haven't tried silk but the other makes too much static.
I prefer cotton... it's more economical, has many appearances, is comfy, easy to clean and lasts a long while...
I would really like to try real linen sheets, I heard that they are absolutely divine.

I prefer cotton: It breathes better, and while satin is pretty it somehow feels cold- Not something I like except perhaps in summer.

Satin sounds wonderful until you actually sleep on it. I bought the most beautiful satin sheets and have barely used them. I felt obligated to make use of them because they were rather expensive but they make me sweat, I stick to them, and they never stay on the mattress. Not to mention that they are h e l l when trying to make the bed.

Cotton, the higher the thread count the better.
I sleep on a min. of 220 thread count, and my comforter and duvet cover are 500 thread count. ahhhhhhh luxury!
180 thread count is too rough for my skin.
180 is the lowest least expensive thread count.
ALWAYS LOOK AT THE THREAD COUNT for Quality!
200 is fair, 220 is good, 300 is really nice 500 is luxury!!!!!
i just did a search on thread count on yahoo.....you will be amazed!!! there is a thread count envy site!!
****Satin, is for that special romantic romp!
it's slippery and it's a one time thing. Ya know what I mean?

I would perfer to sleep on cotton regularly, because it is less slippery, but every now and then satin would be nice, since it is much more comfortable.

Actually I just got one of the new microfiber blankets and it's so soft it's heaven. I use it as a top sheet. If could find a matching Microfiber fitted sheet like the blanket I'd be all over it.
My only beef about microfiber is sometimes the texture changes after washing.
