The greatest President can be argued, but, one does stick out because it is his ideals that we are living in, throughout the United States and the world...
1. Freedom of the press and freedom of speech.
2. Freedom from fear.
3. Freedom from want.
4. Freedom to practice religion in his/her own way.
He saw one third of a nation ill housed, ill clad and ill fed and he did something about it. And, we are still living in the world he created during the throws of a great depression and a world war. He envisioned it and we have all benefited from it, since. He was of course...
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

George Washington. Many wanted him to be king but he turned them down and instead became the first democractically elected President in US history. He could have served a 3rd term but he declined because he didn't want to look like a dictator. He kept the new country intact and stable during the first few years of Democracy in America and that was critical to the future success of the country.

John F. Kennedy because of the Cuban missles incident... few people realize that could have been a national catastophe. Those missles could have wiped out more than half the country. That would have been a million times worse than 9/11.
