happy southern lady and Robert b made sense. Forget Mars. Without funding for NASA, our income taxes would go down. Without an overpaid Congress, our income taxes would go down. Without entertainers, sports jocks and television and movies stars making obscene money, products that we purchase would cost less: including food for the poor.
Without a House of representatives passing legislation that is not constitutional, our income taxes would almost be wiped out of existence. Without a monetary system based on Hot air instead of Gold and Silver, we wouldn't have houses that cost several hundred times what they did back in 1920. Example: a house built for $1500 in Long Beach, California in 1920, is on the market right now for $585,000.
Bottom line: we have problems; feeding the poor is only a symptom of a larger degeneration of a culture dependent on short term gains, where no long term consequences are thought out. Going to mars with money funded by an overtaxed people is systemic of a nation in decay and on its way out. Private enterprise can do the same venture faster, better and cheaper if the tax man would just stand aside.
Everything, from housing to food and clothing would be cheaper without the taxing schemes to fund non constitutional boondoggles like NASA, and a gazillion other wasteful alphabet soup agencies.
People are poor and hungry, because the voter ignores those runing the hen house, plain and simple. Even the middle class is heading that way. Hot air issued FRN's (which is NOT money, but debt instruments) will put him/her in the poor house along with the poor already there.

Feed the hungry.. I have said this all week on yahoo answers. I don't understand what is Nasa doing. How can we keep honestly sending people to space when we can't even feed our hungry. The government is a conspiracy.
Its not right.

Feed the hungry, but not just kids. Feed the adults and teach them not to keep having kids that they can not feed themselves.
Remember the story about giving a man a fish to eat or teach a man to fish so that he can feed himself forever.

It's just another business. We should use the money we pay the President to feed the hungry.

yeah i agree they should be spending more money on the poor people. But there is other stuff too like wars. Did you know government worldwide spent an average of $ 26 600 per soldier but only $450 per student? For every $11 spent on medical research, $45 was spent on military research. There is one soldier for every 43 people in the world but only one physician for every 1030 people. The amount spent on international peacekeeping was only 6 cents for every person in the world compared to $ 152 for military expenditures. I am not saying they should stop spending on military research but i think they should be paying more attention to social welfare and stuff.
Peace!

I agree to a point, Our country does WASTE a lot .
We do have to explore other resources but I think we should take care of our own too.
What about the millions spent to make 1 movie!
What about the millions spent on 1 Superbowl AD!
Yeah, etc.etc.,etc.
We can only dream about what we would do if we had $10,000,000.

If I didn't work, I wouldn't have any food, either. Or if I had 6 kids on a minimum wage job, I would have any food, either. People bring their own problems and then try to make me feel bad because I don't care. Let's go to mars!!

I totally agree! What the heck are they doing in Mars anyway? They've established that human beings cannot live there so what's the point of doing more research? Why don't they fix the planet that they actually live on!
