Has anyone heard if he'll finally pitch this year??? Seems like they've wasted a lot of money on him ...

Yes, of course. The Yankees want him to pitch next year either in the bullpen or in the starting rotation. If they happen to trade Randy Johnson, then expect Carl Pavano to come into the Big Unit's spot in the rotation. But if not, they will probably use him as a long reliever since he has that type of stamina, since he has been in the rotation before. He will pitch next year as a true fact, but we don't know if he will be in the starting rotation or in the bullpen.

A lot of money. 42 million for 4 years and we're into his third year and he's only pitched 23 or so games. He's supposed to pitch this year unless he re-aggravates his strained butt that kept him out last year. He is the problem with the Yankees. One good year does not make a great pitcher. He had one good year for the Marlins and the Yankees were drooling over the guy. We get what we paid for.

I think he's going to pitch. And i don't think many people would have been saying he was a waste of money when they bought him. Every player can sustain injury, it's a risk every team takes when trading, buying and drafting players. His numbers were incredible the season before the Yankees got their hands on him. Bit off subject there, but I think he'll pitch.

I read that he´s ready to pitch this year.... He´s a waste of money, but because it´s not my money....i don´t care. Anyway, i don´t think is a good idea to trade him because he has no value, and after watching Meche and Lilly sign for 10M a year, Pavano has an average salary right now, and there is not a pitcher with his caliber signed for less money.

The BUM!
He better pitch.
He's pitched 19 games in 2 years!!!!!!!! If you average out the amount of time he's played, he's the highest paid player in baseball. I wonder what "excuses" (last years auto accident that he failed to tell the team about, Joe was planning on starting him!) he'll come up with this year so he doesn't have to play. maybe i am being too hard on him, but he really makes me mad. He doesn't deserve to don the pinstripes

I hope so. The Red Sox have always had success against him. Too bad Randy Johnson may be going. The Red Sox were definitely getting comfortable with his pitching too. Igawa is an unknown, same as Matsuzaka will be for the Red Sox. Pettitte and Mussina are a couple of years past their prime, same as Schilling and Wakefield.

The yanks r looking foward to puting him in the rotation. I agree! They r spending too much money on him and I think they should trade him for another pitcher.

Hopefully he'll stop getting Nob Jobs while he's driving this season and be the pitcher the Yanks need him to be...
