Well if you are planning on giving your lady a cubic zirconium instead of a diamond then you are just being cheap but then again it's the thought that counts lol... Can it scratch glass is one way. Just be sure if you are giving her a cubic zirconia just be sure she don't get it check herself that could get you in trouble. However I don't mind if they are cubic zirconia but my engagement ring I wanted it to be new and real.... My hubby did great when he got my ring.... He went overboard But I love it.

Well, if your eye was untrained, the obvious answer is no. However, a very small amount of training and a hand lens will do the trick. Look for carbon flecking inside the gem. If there are small gray spots or felcks, it's diamond. If there aren't, and the light reflecting from it is oddly colored (not purely reflracted) then it is likely zirconia.

if you have a blacklight, yes

cubics will glow blue under a blacklight, the light just passes through natural diamonds

If you were to shine light into it, there would be a different light spectrum, or something like that. But that would go more into to trained eye...

Maybe its durability?

Yes, hold it up to a mirror if it looks like it touches then it is a fake, if not it is real.
