Unfortunately, my kids had hard stools more than they had diarrhea when they were babies. Not really sure what you can give then oraly. But giving them a light rub-down with baby oil after a nice warm bath before bed definitely soothes them. Esp. the belly area, lightly rub in a downward motion, almost like a masage. When my babies were not sleeping well due to tummy discomforts, I used to hold them to my chest and have them fall asleep on my chest, lightly rubbing their backs. My husband used to do that to them and they fell alseep almost immediately. It's just comforting for them. No medical testimony or anything. I guess it's just the comfort of mommy or daddy being right there and they hear your heartbeat - makes them feel like they're back in the womb. Also, one important thing - when you change your baby's diaper, DO NOT use baby wipes to clean your baby. Even though it is gentle enough for the baby's skin, it still has chemicals that may irritate the already raw bottom. Just get a little wash basin of warm water and use cotton balls to GENTLY dab and wash off your baby's rear. Apply soothing diaper rash gel over the cleaned area to soothe it further. Your baby will appreciate the extra TLC.

You need to take your baby to the doctor's office. Diarrhea can be serious... can cause dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, etc. If the baby is acting differently, feels too warm, too cool, or is acting sleepy or disinterested in feeding I would go to an emergency room. Also, diarrhea can cause irritation of the anal area- put some desitin on his bottom to protect his skin from redness/rash.

After feeding him u have to make him stand of carry him in a stanfing posture and pat him in the back in different places.

The child swallows air with the feed, so it sits in there and that air has to come out, the patting helps the air to come out.

If u r giving external feed like water mixed with lactogen (or any other available in your area) it should be little watery and not like a thick paste, which gives bad odour/ stomach upsets etc.

The child should be given fresh air and sunlight, which many parents do not give.

A baby that has diarrhea and gas....you should take the baby to the doctor to determine the cause and treatment. There could be many different things causing it and different prevention and treatments. A baby can become severely dehydrated. Please take your baby to the ER or to the docs immediately.

Tummy sleeping is the most comfortable postion when the baby has colic/gas. If she/he is very young, have baby sleep on your chest on your stomach. Mine have all been tummy sleepers from very young, but I would never encourage anyone else to do so. Good luck and be patient. This too shall pass.
