- I speak Hebrew fluently and although European/American, speak Spanish flawlessly. Have gone through Spanish 1-4, and AP Spanish. I have a weighted GPA (our school system only does weighted grades) of 4.65. I have completed every science course available to me, and all AP math courses (calculus, stat, etc). My freshman year however, I took Algebra 1 and basic science, due to lack of interest in 7th grade, and unfair counselors in 8th grade. I have gone from working at Mitchell's (ice cream) to working at Borders. I have no alumni relations. Student council member, president of Israeli Culture Club, and Pre-Med Society. Active member in Key Club. Interest in medicine, conducting research at Cleveland Clinic on cancer cells. Black belt in Taw Kwon Doe, and Jujitsu. On varsity track team. 34 on ACT. Taken college courses at local community college. 200+ hours of community service. Exampled leadership. I think I have a pretty good chance of getting in, but what do you to do think? Thanks!

- I come from a finacelly stable family, ($120,000+ income). My dad will not donate money to any university. Looking for a large scholarship. Backrounds include American, Canadian, Polish, German, Russian. Family has gone to U of M , Duke, Stanford, Northwestern, Penn, MIT. Most if not all were not first choices (kind of funny, if you know what I mean). Looking to go into Astrophysical Sciences or medicine. Any other questions, just ask.

I would think you would get into one of those schools if not all of them -

Good Luck!!!

Truthfully, those universities aren't the beginning or end of your life. The name recognition is wonderful but being happy is even better. If you know what you want to do and are really good at it and love doing it P/H/Y/M won't matter that much. I went to one of those schools and really enjoyed my time there but 10 years in retrospect, I would have been just as happy other places just as well. Just make sure you are happy and love what you do. I wish you the best of luck but if it doesn't work out, don't stress it. Read "The Overachievers: The Secret Lives of Driven Kids (Hardcover) by Alexandra Robbins" Getting into those schools is like hitting the lottery even people with stellar academic records don't get in and people like George W do.

I bet you can get into Stanford, Yale , and Harvard and other ivy league schools. You seem to be talented. College like to see that you did everything: working, sports, languages. All of that is a boost. My friend got accepted to Harvard. I'll tell you he is fluent in Spanish has 2100 SAT(low) , was twice a foreign exchange student AFS to China and Ghana, did 200+ community service, is in basketball team, he is president of spanish club, and joined others, he is a valedictorian, his parents are both spanish teachers so that helped, and his sister is already at harvard. They probably also took him because his parents make average salary of 40,000 but that doesnt mean anything. i hope this helps...

I'd agree that you have a "pretty good chance" but nothing's for sure; ie it's still a bit of a roll of the dice. My guess is you'll get into one or more of them, but it may not be your first choice school so you should prepare yourself for that. Will you be applying ED (where available?)

Keep up the good work, have a successful college career and go on and make the world a better place! Wherever you go will be lucky to have you.

Yes I would say that you stand a very good chance at getting accepted. One of my classmate was accepted into MIT and she was around your standing. She's not a genius, just a hard worker. You seem to be a well rounded student. You have achieved a lot through your high school year.

May I ask what your AP scores were?

You definitely have a shot. Your goals now is to convey all of this to the admissions committees on just several sheets of paper -- those pages are who you are. You need to convey a strong personality and an eagerness to take advantage of everything college offers you. Be as descriptive as you possibly can, highlight what you feel sets you apart from other applicants, and make use of all of the space they give you. You need to make the application reader feel as if they know you, or want to meet you -- make them say, "Wow, s/he seems like a very interesting person! I can definitely see her/him here on our campus." Good luck!

Well... from what you wrote, yes. But if you have a really really boring essay, then no. That's all I can say, but I'm not an expert in these things... perhaps you should also ask on the College Confidential forums (www.collegeconfidential.com).
