this is a stupid question... you can't truly love someone and not respect them.

First, it isn't a stupid question. The two conjure up different emotions, both positive. I think loving someone is easier if you respect them, but that doesn't mean you can't love them if you don't respect them... unconditional love, for example. I would opt for respect, it would be a better indicator or how you live your life.

Respect --because if someone shows you respect they are showing you love. People can love people but have no respect for them.

Both. I think a lot of men feel that they need to be repected and admired for what they can do for their significant other. However, they also need to be loved in their core attachments as well. Me personally...I would go with the love
