If you use Yahoo mail, you don't actually have a spam folder, you have bulk mail. Have you checked it to see if your expected mail is there? When/if you get messages you don't want and click on spam, it blocks the sender and the mail is gone. It doesn't go to trash, it's gone. when you empty the bulk mail folder, it does go to the trash bin, so check it to see if your missing messages are there. If so, move them back to the inbox and train the bulk mail where to put these messages.

If you are referring to a spam folder in your outlook express, it is possible your ISP is blocking what it thinks is spam before it reaches you. Several ISPs have this facility as default, but you can turn it off

Count yourself lucky that you don't receive spam. If you surf on the internet very much, you should get a few or many. depends on how much surfing you do. Also, if you have a firewall on your computer, which is highly highly recomended, see if your firewall is turned on. Click on your security program and check the firewall to see if it's turned on.
