There are so many things to consider! But, I've travled a lot of places in this country and currently live in san diego. Lately I've been trying to think about where I'll go next, and I had a lot of the same criteria. And honestly, the coolest place I've been in this country other than new york, boston, dc, and san francisco, which all have crappy weather, is AUSTIN, TEXAS!!! Yes, Texas!! I was afraid to even go into the state, but Austin is very different, huge college town, great music scene, totally happening nightlife, (lots of incredible live music for free many places on 6th street...)and most importantly, was the friendliest place I've ever been. As a guy who's lived in southern california for almost 20 years, I can honestly say that there were some of the most beautiful women in the world there but with absolutely zero attitude!! Now you probably aren't about to move somewhere for the women, but it just gives you an idea-- it's also the capital, so there's jobs, great culture, cool architecture, great restaurants( I had better food there than in New Orleans, and I'm a caterer!!) Seriously, I think that's where I'll end up in 5-7 years, CHECK IT OUT!!!

Albuquerque, NM and Santa Fe, NM are both nice. Their nightlife starts early and closes early, but the cost of living is fairly cheap. I lived there for 2 years and had a 2,000 square foor house that only cost $129,000. You can rent a 2 bedroom apartment in a nice complex for $400 - $500 a month.

Arizona is the nice weather but not very friendly... Since you said "sorta" friendly, you might just like it. Pheonix... largest city
