My daugher is 7 months old and still loves to be swaddled. We had stopped the first couple of weeks after she was born, but at around 4 months I had a heck of a time getting her to sleep. DH started wrapping her in a blanket, and what'd ya know, put her to sleep. She manages to get her arms free during the night, but it certainly helps in getting her to fall asleep. Hey, if it works, keep doing it. I'm sure at some point they'll grow out of it.

Both of my kids started tearing our of their swaddles by the time they were two months old. They would sleep really comfortably while swaddled, but then all of a sudden, they seemed to hate it.

We used the blanket swaddle for the first week. After that, we used the velcro Kiddopotamus swaddler (first small, then large sizes) until 5 1/2 months. By then he got very roly-poly in the crib and didn't stay velcroed for very long.

We stopped swaddling our daughter when it stopped working to calm her down and get her to sleep. I think she was around 4 months, but that is by no means a push to get you to stop swaddling. When it stops being an effective tool, stop doing it. 'Nuff said.

I only did it for the first 4 to 6 weeks, then slowly stopped. Most babies stop startling after that time.
