DSL is dependent on how far away you are from the nearest telephone office. The maximum practical distance is 15000 ft, or abour 3 miles. These tend to be scattered throughout built-up areas. However, out in the country, you may be quite far from the nearest office.

Other options for a faster internet connection might include cable, wireless, or satellite. Again, if you live very far out, wireless might not be an option. If you have or can get digital cable service, check with the cable company to see if they offer cable internet.

There is also satellite internet. This is available pretty much anywhere. Your download speeds will be fairly fast, though your upload speeds may actually be as slow as dialup.

If you are on cable, you can. Call up your local telephone company to see if they provide it. You should be able to get dsl if you live that close to a city. Check with a computer company/someone who deals in working on them or services computers probably would know.
