Yep. Your engine needs fuel, fire, & air to run. Take any one away (in this case the fire - aka spark) and it stops.

Yes!! It happened to my car back in October. Had it towed to the Mechanic and they told me it was not my fuel filter that I needed all new plugs and wires.. Also replaced my Distributer cap.

Depending on the car. Some cars have independent ignition coils, some have one coil for two cylinders. A bad ignition coil can surely stop a car in its tracks. Your best bet it to take it to a full service mechanic, it'll save you time and aggravation. Besides, it's one way you know it'll get fixed and you can always take it back if it doesn't. It's really the only way to go.

they can but it is rare...did you check the fuel pump?...if it is very quiet you can hear it hum as it primes for about 2 seconds after you turn the key to accessory , on some makes of vehicle...if you do hear it it may be the fuel pump
